Creating a Commercial Building Interior

Tuesday 13 May 2008 @ 1:19 am

The majority of people are more than capable of painting their home or fixing something as simple as a gutter, but commercial interior design is a completely different ball game. Commercial interior design requires a special education.

Any professional commercial interior designer has a very good education, they probably started thinking about commercial interior design before they even got to college and simply didn’t realize it. Commercial interior design is something that’s very different, and this means that it can be difficult to choose what to do. There are many different areas of commercial interior design, and many people will specialize in a particular area. No matter which area you choose you will face many of the same challenges.

One of the most useful tools that can be used in commercial interior design is software. This is also known as CAD, or Computer Aided Design. All commercial interior designers are familiar with this software and use it to create and view their ideas before they materialize. This software can also be used to create technical drawings which can be understood by contractors. CAD drawings can be used to create blueprints and drawings which can help to complete your project.

A lot has changed recently with design and architecture, thanks to computers you no longer even need to put pen to paper when drawing and planning the layout of a room. It is now possible to do all kinds of drawing on a computer, this also allows you much more flexibility and minimizes human error. Using CAD software can be a great way to manipulate the interior of a room, try french country drapery ideas or rearrange furniture so that you can see how things will look, and also show your client.

Engineering

Many people do not associate engineering with interior design, however a career in commercial interior design is also a career in engineering. You need to know mathematical equations so that you can work out the space available, and the space required for the office cubicles. You also need to know how to add more space to a building.

Commercial interior design is concerned with economizing on space and doesn’t necessarily mean working with existing space. You might have to create extra space which doesn’t already exist, and so you will need an understanding of engineering.

Commercial interior design can be very difficult and challenging, however it can be something that you will be proud of. In order to succeed you need to have a lot of experience and knowledge from a variety of sources.

If you want to start a career in commercial interior design then you need to be prepared to do a lot of studying. However that won’t last forever, once you have graduated then you can look forward to a very promising career.

If you are considering a loft conversion, be creative when it comes to decorating you new loft and let yourself go. Lofts are exceptional and unusual spaces compared to the other areas in your home.

How to Find a Concrete Pool Repair Professional

Thursday 1 May 2008 @ 7:48 pm
by Dan Chan

Concrete pools can sometimes develop problems as they age. Problems such as cracks, discolorations, worn surfaces, chips, and other things can occur in the surface. We recommend that the average homeowner get these kinds of problems corrected by a decorative concrete professional.

A Professional Pool Deck Repair Company, What To Look For

It is a challenge to find a suitable company that can be repair damaged concrete and make it look right. But if you keep a few things in mind, you will find that you will be much less likely to get ripped off. First, we recommend that you make your first call to the Better Business Bureau. They compile info on local companies and can be an impartial source of information.

Look for companies that do not have many or any bad marks against them in arbitration on the BBB. Also once you contact them, ask for references. Call around to friends that also have concrete pools. Ask them who they use. This can give you a good overall feel for a company before you even call them the first time.

Why A Professional?

Concrete is a very finicky material to deal with, so the person who is working with the material must know how it interacts with the environment. For a decorative concrete pool deck, it is vital to get the right professional to fix the damage right. They can make it blend with the rest of the decorative concrete. For instance, if the pool deck has a beige color, a color like that can be highly difficult for the average person to replicate in concrete with store-bought acid stain for concrete.

Sometimes, it is often more difficult to fix a botched DIY repair than to just call the professional in the first place. For instance, a botched acid stain job may even get into fixing concrete that was not originally damaged, just because it took up some stain that ended up looking bad. Hundreds (and sometimes thousands) extra can hit a homeowner due to do it yourself deck repairs. So be careful! Call.

What To Do Before Meeting The Pool Deck Inspector

You need to go over your pool deck deck very thoroughly. It is vitally important that you know where all the damage is in your pool deck. This will aid the professional pool repairer in knowing what needs the most attention.

When the pool deck repair arrives at your home or business, to inspect your pool, you need to be there to show them in person all the imperfections. Most of the time this will be very obvious to them anyway, but it is good to establish clear communication between you and the contractor.

Finally, Important To Remember

All in all, it is important to remember first of all that you do not want to try to attempt your own concrete pool deck repair in most cases. There are professionals who can make the cracks in concrete blend in completely naturally to the look of the surrounding concrete. Finally, be prepared to show the contractor what needs fixing and your expectations. Remember, get it fixed right, and enjoy your pool from now on.
